How is Taliban-occupied Pakistan going to impact the safety of India?
Q. India is the second fastest growing economy in the world, only behind China. However, its neighbor Pakistan has much tension with the Taliban. The Obama administration is training the Pakistani military to fight against the Taliban, but is this military using the US military strategies to attack India instead and capture the disputed Kashmir? Is the Taliban going to try to attack India next?

A. First, as I understand it, the Obama administration is offering to work with the Pakistani military to defeat the Taliban, although that offer hasn't been taken up. So, as far as I'm aware, there isn't currently any co-operation (as in advisors etc) between the US and Pakistan (with respect to the Pakistani army's offensive in the Swat). Second, the Pakistani army is pretty good when it comes to conventional fighting. I forget how large they are, I think they're the seventh largest army in the world. They don't need training to fight a war against India. They've been preparing for that scenario for decades. Third, yes, if the Taliban captures or controls sections of Pakistan, that will cause problems between India and Pakistan. The… [cont.]
