A. I'm not interested in buying these items, rather I had an idea for you. You could take pictures of these items and put it on Craigs List in your area. You can also do a search and see how much other people are selling those same items for. I've had a lot of success getting rid of things I don't want on CL. Best part is that they will come to you and pick up the items. www.craigslist.com

Why is selling a car on eBay getting harder to get good money?
Q. I have sold over 400 cars on eBay. It just doesn't seem to be like it used to be. Cars aren't selling for as much money. People used to fly in and buy cars from all over. Now I only get local people. I am selling them for more and faster in the local newspaper. Also, 1/2 the people that are top bidder don't even pay. It's just not barely worth it anymore. Does anyone else feel this way? If so, why? Haha, well now that you say it...I had a conversation with my dad today about him getting a car on eBay. I wasn't even thinking from the buyer's side...but I told him no way because I have bought 2 Corvettes and a 350Z from reputable dealers on eBay. All 3 promised me no paintwork. There was paintwork on ALL 3. One even had the… [cont.]

A. Vehicle shipping is too expensive. I live on the west coast and it seems like most of the dealers on ebay are from Texas or the east coast, and shipping a car out here is a minimum $1000. Add that to fact that you're bidding on something sight unseen and if something goes wrong you cannot take up your grievances in person, and it seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Im selling an investment propertyin victoria, australia. How can i reduce capital gains tax when i sell it?
Q. I have never lived in the property and I did purchase it close to the end of 1989. What capital losses can be claimed on investment property and anything else(deductions?) to lower the cgt im liable to pay upon selling it? I know I can reduce to cgt because Ive owned the property for more than 12 months. Is my income also taken into account when calculating cgt?
Asked by djmck098 - Tue Sep 16 01:56:34 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The amount you paid for the property (including legals, stamp duty) and incidental costs of sale (legal fees, real estate agent fees etc) is subtracted from the sale price. There are examples here CGT is not a separate tax - you calculate the amount of the capital gain (capital proceeds less cost base, then divide by 2 assuming you are eligible for the 50% CGT discount for holding the property for more than 12 months), and you add this to your other income (eg salary)

What should be the selling strategy of a stock for an inactive investor?
Q. A friend sells his stock whenever the stock drops 7% after purchase or his cost. That strategy saved him a lot in the past year when the market dropped about 50%. However, that also means, he lost all his gains with his stocks when the stock market dropped. Should he have a strategy to sell after GAINING, say 50%, and then re-buy the stock back, while maintaing the SELLING strategy of 7% of cost?
Asked by T E - Fri Apr 17 22:40:55 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. From your question, it sounds like your friend sells the stock to lock in a loss, and then buys it back. Is that what you mean? I don't really see the purpose of selling in that case. Does he have tax reasons to lock in a loss? When he sells and buys back the same security, he isn't changing his investment, he is only paying unnecessary transaction fees. If he wants to continue to invest in the same stock, he should just hold it.

How and when to decline a selling party invitation?
Q. My wife is frequently invited to "selling parties" where the hostess is sponsoring a company that comes in to sell stuff to those in attendance. The hostess receives credit for the sales and is able to buy stuff herself at a discount or free. Should these be viewed as a business transaction in which one is free to simply decline if they are not interested in the merchandise being sold? Or is it a social event hosted by a friend in which the invitation should be accepted out of courtesy even if she has no interest in the product being sold? She doesn't sponsor these things herself, so there's no issue of hypocrisy here (declining others' invitations then expecting them to come to hers) but doesn't want to hurt the feelings of her friends… [cont.]
Asked by Craig R - Thu Sep 13 10:57:50 2007 - - 18 Answers - 0 Comments

A. That's exactly why these things are held. They get people into these "sales events" because the company knows that friends will feel guilty about not attending or feel real guilty about not buying. Just respectfully decline. No harm because the person giving them knows it's not really a social event it's a sales event.

A. What im interested in knowing is has it happened or is it going to happen? How on earth do the kids afford $70 for the drugs when they are 15?! Do mum and dad know about the drugs?! If it was my old school they would be expelled charged and end up in some kind of juvenile correctional jail for X amount of years and hopefully if the justice system is working to get drugs and dealers off the streets and out of our childrens arms and noses then he will be prosecuted as an adult not just a child because he knows better than to sell drugs and the kids that are buying the drugs need a good swift kick up the @$$ for buying the drugs and steroids! How can I get started selling on ebay with no capital to invest in products?
Q. Hello, I am trying to find out a way to start selling on ebay with no capital to invest in product sourcing. I need to get started selling and take the profit and re-invest it into more products to sell.

A. Just advertise and sell any small item. You don't need capital to start selling on eBay. Have a sort out in your attic, garage, bedroom, cupboard under the stairs or garden shed. You are bound to find something that you do not want and others will pay good money for.

A. You can't post a Proposal for Sale of Business here. It is a comprehensive document similar to a business plan with dozens to hundreds of pages. Contact a broker like VR Business Brokers and see if you can get help. Yours is a unique business driven by personal contacts and is not easily sold.

A. Generally, you want to save on listing fees and let the (ebay) market to set the closing price. In most cases, this means starting the initial price at $9.99 or less. However, the only exception is for expensive items. With the current recession and sales at ebay (and most everywhere else) soft now, you don t want to get burned. Use you discretion with expensive items. Some tips that may be helpful to you . Be honest and accurate in your descriptions One-sentence descriptions are for lazy sellers. One paragraph should be sufficient for most items. My general guideline is the more expensive (read higher priced) an item, the more you should talk it up. It won t be time wasted. Use lots of adjectives in your descriptions. Adjectives… [cont.]

A. First where are they selling Ebay, then contact them. Not collecting sales tax then inform your states Sales Taxing authority. There usually is a 10% reward. Buying an item for 15 and marking it up to 45 is not illegal. It is customer beware.
